How much preparation do students need for the SAT?
Although preparation time certainly varies based upon a student’s or group of students unique needs, our 8 – 10 week program, immediately preceding the SAT, thoroughly familiarizes students with the test and equips students with the strategies to succeed on the test.
Which SAT should students take?
Despite myths that suggest one SAT test date offers an easier test than another test, there is no ‘best’ date to take the test. Much of the timing of the test depends upon your student’s goals and lifestyle (e.g. extra curricular activities, etc.). When deciding upon which test/s is/are the best for you to take, consider:
1) Your extracurricular schedule
2) The number of times you anticipate you will take the test
3) Any other tests you may plan to take (SATIIs, AP Exams)
4) Score reports: the College Board QAS (Question and Answer Service that sends you the SAT question booklet with correct answers) is only available for the October and January Tests. An “answer only” score report will be provided for all other test dates.
How does group instruction and individual instruction differ?
Our approach to group instruction mirrors our individualized instruction. We limit the group size to a maximum of 4 students so that we can individualize instruction within the group. The small group instruction provides students with similar interests and schedules (e.g. athletics and arts/music) an opportunity to receive instruction that accomodates their busy lifestyles, but also provides them a learning environment that encourages team work. Some students are simply more comfortable, and thus thrive, in a group setting.
How does small group instruction work?
Typically, clients will set up the group of 2-4 students who have some common meeting times. Once the group is formed, we can begin our tutoring sessions. It’s that easy.
Do I need to purchase books?
No. Part of our service includes providing preparation materials. If a client has received previous preparation and has already used a particular text, we will accomodate him/her by providing an alternative text.
What kind of follow-up occurs after the test?
Once a student receives his/her scores, we will provide a review of the score report free of charge upon request.
